Bright and airy double room in spacious 3-bedroom Victorian terraced house on a quiet side street in the heart of vibrant Hackney Central (zone 2). Weekly cleaner, wireless broadband, share house with 1 other (me!).
The sunny bedroom is a large double (about 10’ x 12’) with white walls, wood floors and windows on 2 sides (‘dual aspect’) with great views.
At the same time the house is very centrally located:
•just off the main shopping street (M&S, 24 hr Tesco, Boots, Primark, banks, Post Office)
•3 mins to train stations (Hackney Central & Hackney Downs)
•3 mins to numerous bus routes (including night buses – you’ll never need to get a taxi home again!) heading all over London
•it's simple to get to the tube (Angel – Northern line; Highbury – Victoria line; Bethnal Green – central line)
•it’s easy & quick to get into the City (8 mins on the frequent & reliable overground to Liverpool Street), Islington & the West End (20 mins).
All the amenities of central Hackney are on your doorstep, but in a quiet side street, which is a haven from city life.
The house is very spacious, with 2 receptions rooms (2 sofas in the bay-windowed front room), plus a large kitchen with a table that seats 6 for Sunday roasts. There’s even a huge cellar for storage (in the past it has been used for band practice, including full drum kit).
Upstairs there are 3 double bedrooms - the front one is a yoga/free weights studio. There’s a weekly cleaner, & the house is easy to keep clean between times as it has wood floors/white walls throughout. There are high ceilings & original Victorian features like coving, fireplaces, picture rails, window shutters, room dividers - the house is full of character.
The house is flooded with light from the numerous huge windows. It is clean & fresh throughout, & is comfortable, relaxed & lived in (ie this is not a new build with shiny gadgets & granite work surfaces!). There’s a bath & shower (though the bathroom is small), central heating, washing machine, a front garden to sit & watch the world go by, a back garden to hang the washing & enjoy the sunset …
For entertainment there's the Hackney Empire & Ocean (5 mins), Rio Cinema, Arcola Theatre & more. As well as local bars & restaurants, it's a short journey to those in Stoke Newington, Dalston, Islington, Brick Lane, Hoxton & Shoreditch, & very easy to get to central London/West End. There’s the huge street market at Ridley Road, the posh Broadway food & crafts market on Saturdays & the Colombia Road flower market on Sundays.
Given the central location, there’s a huge amount of green space just round the corner - Hackney Downs, London Fields, the vast Hackney Marshes (with nature reserve, golf course, horse riding school, ice skating rink plus apparently the largest area of football pitches in Europe), Clissold Park & Victoria Park (with the Victoria Park Harriers running club). The nearby canal network lets you cycle safely all over London, & the Springfield rowing club is about a mile north.
At London Fields there's the fabulous newly-refurbished lido - 50 meter outdoor pool. And around the corner (3 mins) there's the Kings Hall Leisure Centre (& walking distance to several other sports facilities). It’s even walking distance to the famous Circus Space school in Hoxton if you fancy learning the trapeze!
During the day & evening it’s great to have the house full of life, but after 10pm I like it quiet. I’m looking to rent a room to a housemate who is a non-smoker, fairly clean & tidy, relaxed & friendly.
Bills are payable on top of the rent – council tax, gas, electricity, phone, wireless broadband, cleaner, TV licence. You'll need to provide a work reference, bank reference & deposit.
The room is available now and is sure to go quickly, so if you're interested please feel free to telephone me between 8am & 10pm (emails will get a longer response time as I don't sit at my computer all day!). If I don’t answer, please leave a message & I’ll get back to you.
